Sunday 17th June 2018 saw Creative Ways Taekwondo head up to Doncaster at The Dome open.

Our 6 players were all weighed in & ready to go be 8am, seats were sorted & we waited for the Open to begin.

All in all we had a good day, the majority of the fights for our players were in the morning so the pace of the day flowed well.

The competition was all carried out using the Daedo PSS electronic scoring system, all 5 rings. British Taekwondo equipment.

The club came away with 2 silver medals & 3 bronze.

2017 National Poomsae Championships

Two members of Milton Keynes’s Creative Ways Taekwondo (CWTKD) club took part in the British Taekwondo “National Poomsae, Freestyle and Para Championships” in Nottingham at the weekend. They both did very well but particularly Zaw Torley (aged 10) from MK.
Zaw came home with the following haul of medals:
  • A silver medal in the “Individual  Poomsae” event for his age,
  • A bronze in the “Pairs Poomsae” event with Sophie Kennerly from Stoke UTA,
  • A Silver in Freestyle under 17 Poomsae, where he combined his gymnastic and Taekwondo skills into an exciting acrobatic display.

To top it off Zaw was then asked by British Taekwondo to become a member of Taekwondo Team GB. Zaw will have to travel to Manchester every month for training and we will be happy to provide more updates in future months on how he is getting on representing his country.
His younger brother Zar Torley (aged 7), also competed this weekend and got into the semi-final for his age group. Well done to all our athletes.
Poomsae is an element of Taekwondo that involves demonstrating your skills in a choreographed pattern.
Anyone interested in taking part in this exciting sport? Please come along and try it out. See our Facebook page or website for details www.cwtkd.co.uk Creative Ways Taekwondo is a not for profit community sports club.
